When will Lord Gaurahari, who is unlimitedly more beautiful than Cupid, infinitely more purifying than the celestial Ganges, more soothing than millions of moons, sweeter than madhavika nectar, more charitable and generous than the celestial desire creepers, and more affectionate than millions of mothers , appear in my meditation and lovingly place His lotus feet upon my heart ?

Purport –
Lord Balarama descends as lord Nityananda to assist Mahaprabhu in His magnanimous pastimes. His magnanimous , unique qualities are simply beyond human definition. How can we possibly comprehend the activities of the first expansion of the Supreme Lord , who leaving behind all His wealth, fame and position in Svetadvipa, descended to this world and danced around like a madman crying ‘Gauranga, Gauranga’ in utter ecstasy.Holding straws between His teeth, begging from door to door and urging people to chant, He sanctified mother earth by rolling over her dusty grounds, and bathing His beautiful body with impurities.
Being intoxicated with divine love, He had bestowed the supreme mercy of pure devotional service ,even upon those petty drunkards (Jagai and Madhai) who had hurled broken pots at Him and caused Him to bleed.
Being completely devoid of external consciousness, Lord Nitai sometimes roamed naked at Srivasa angana, or threw food around like a little baby.
May the lotus feet of Lord Nitai, the saviour of the fallen souls, be the constant object of our meditation.

Translation –
Lord Balarama , following the instructions of Lord Gauranga, ordered His own associates, to descend onto the earth. He said, ‘Narada, go to the earth; I shall also take birth soon. I shall reveal the unknown’.

Purport –
This ‘unknown’, spoken about in this verse, is the science of pure devotional service that was largely unknown before the advent of Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu. That is why Srila vasudeva Ghosh sings :

madhura vrinda, vipina-madhuri,
pravesa chaturi sar
baraja yuvati, bhavera bhakati,
shakati hoito kar

Who else could have had the power to render ecstatic devotional service that follows in the footsteps of the damsels of Vraja? Indeed, the clever expertise of the Vraja-gopis is a prerequisite for entering the supremely sweet forest of Vrindavana.

Lord Balarama or Nityananda Prabhu is key to obtaining the mercy of Lord Gauranga.Anyone who is loved by Lord Nitai becomes atonce exceedingly dear to Lord Gaurahari. Nityananda Prabhu urges everyone :

Chaitanya seva, chaitanya gao,
lao chaitanya nama
Chaitanye ye bhakti kare, sei mora prana
(Chaitanya Charitamrita, Madhya 1.29)

Nityananda Prabhu requested everyone to serve Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, chant His glories and utter His name. Nityananda Prabhu claimed that one who loves and worships Lord Chaitanya becomes His very life and soul.

In Sri Chaitanya Bhagavata as well, it has been mentioned how Nityananda Prabhu always chants the glories and blissful pastimes of Lord Gauranga and makes all of His associates and followers do the same as well.

Nirabadhi sri Krishna Chaitanya sankirtana
Karayen karen laiya bhaktagana
(Chaitanya Bhagavata 3.5.329)

Text 598
Aichhana amrita katha, shuno Gaura guna gatha
Sabjana kara avadhane
Sab-avatara-sar , Kali Gaura avatara
Vichara koroho sabhe mone

Translation –
Please hear such nectarian pastimes, laden with the qualities and virtues of Lord Gauranga. Please listen carefully everyone. Lord Gauranga, who incarnates in the age of kali, is the essence of all incarnations of the supreme. Please consider this in your heart.

Purport –
Narada muni has also confirmed this same conclusion , as we have read before in this chapter-

Yata yata avatara saba haite sar
Kabhu nahi dekhi heno premar bhandar
Safal janam din, safal nayan
Ki dekhilun Gaura rupa , prasanna bayan
(Chaitanya Mangala , 2.121-122)

Translation :
(Narada muni says) ‘Of all the Lord’s incarnations , Lord Gauranga is the best. I have never ever seen such a reservoir of pure ecstatic love. My life has become successful, my eyes have borne fruit, as today I have been able to behold the beautiful form of Lord Gauranga with His pleasant, blissful, smiling face’.

Lord Jagannatha reveals the supreme position of Lord Chaitanya in the below verse as well:

Vaikuntha upari sthan, Goloka yahara nama
Sri Gaurasundara tahe raja
Lakhimi adika naari, eki Purusa Hari
Sukhomoy sakala paraja
(Chaitanya Mangala, 2.494)

(Jagannatha continued) ‘Goloka, which occupies the topmost position in Vaikuntha, is the place where Lord Gauranga is the king.Lakshmi and many other ladies reside there and serve Him. Lord Hari is the only enjoyer over there. All the residents of Goloka are full of bliss’.

Text 599
Trina dhari dasharane, bolon mo kator mon-e
Gaura guna na kariho hela
Samsare na diya mati, kara Krishne piriti
Samsara torite ei bhela

Translation –
Holding straws between my teeth, and with a deep anguish within my heart, I beg you to not neglect the glories of Lord Gauranga. Do not fix your thoughts on this world, but fall in love with Lord Krishna. This is the way to raft this material ocean of birth and death.

Purport –
The Navadvipa dham mahatmya states –
‘ara eka gudha katha suna sarva jana, kali jive yogya vastu Gaura leela dhana’

Please hear the most confidential secret. The most suitable thing for the conditioned souls in this age of Kali, is the supreme treasure of Lord Gauranga’s pastimes.

The land of Navadvipa, the place where Sri Chaitanya mahaprabhu eternally enjoys His magnanimous pastimes, is saturated with audarya (magnanimity). He is the saviour of the fallen souls; that is why He is also known as patita pavana.
Along with His associates, Sri Chaitanya had manifested the most blissful , heart rending pastimes that have been ever witnessed in human history. In fact, some of the eternal associates of the Lord have experienced a greater degree of transcendental ecstasy being part of the pastimes of Lord Chaitanya, as compared to being part of Sri Krishna’s vrindavana pastimes. Lord Gaurahari freely gives what no other incarnation of the Supreme Lord has ever given before – the ecstatic pure love of God. He does not consider one’s qualifications or background or pedigree before bestowing this supreme gift upon them, receiving which one achieves the ultimate perfection of his human life .He is the essence of all the other incarnations of the Supreme – ‘Avatara sar Gaura avatara’.

Text 600
Kabhu nahi haya yei, Gaura avatara sei
Haiba parama parakash
Nirjive jibana pabe, andhe patha vicharibe
Guna gaye e Locana das

Translation –
What never happens, and is exceedingly rare, is the incarnation of Lord Gauranga. The Lord shall manifest His pastimes in this world. The lifeless shall regain their lives, and the blind shall now be able to determine their paths. I, Locana das, sing His glories.

Purport –
This is the prayer of those who have realized that Gauranga prema(love) is the essence of bhakti (devotional science) –

Vaso me varam astu hora dahana jvalavali panjare
Sri Chaitanya padaravinda vimukhair na kutrachit sangamah
Vaikunthadi padam svayam ca militam no me mano lipsate
Padambhoja rajas chata yadi manak gaurasya no rasyate
(Chaitanya Chandramrita, Text 65)

Let me live in the most terrible and the most dreadful burning cage of fire rather than associate with those who are averse to Lord Chaitanya’s lotus feet.My heart has no desire to achieve an eternal residence in Vaikuntha if for a single moment I cannot relish the pollen of the lotus feet of Lord Chaitanya.
