Throughout the day, Lord Caitanya remained immersed in different devotional ecstasies. Sometimes He cried for hours altogether, sometimes He laughed and while at times he was unconscious. On one such occasion, hearing a few verses glorifying Varahadeva (Boar incarnation) , Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu became deeply intoxicated in the mood of the Boar incarnation.Crying out ‘Boar !Boar!’ He rushed to the house of Murari Gupta, His intimate associate. Sri Caitanya Mangala describes how tears of love gushed down the Lord’s eyes ,that resembled the river Ganges rushing down from the peak of Mt Sumeru. ‘The Gaudiya Treasures of Bengal’ offers its humble obeisances unto the lotus feet of Lord Gaurahari, whose intoxicated mood and enchanting pastimes are the source of all transcendental ecstasies.
Entering Murari’s altar, the Lord revealed to him ,His beautiful form as Varahadeva, the Boar-incarnation, and picked up a water pot ,that was lying there, with His enchanting tusks.Manifesting red eyes, round shape and a roaring sound, the Lord ran upon both His hands and feet. Seeing this gigantic form and relishing the mood of Gaurasundara, Murari was highly astonished. The Lord then ordered Murari to sing praises in His glorification. Murari then expressed that even Ananta Sesha, whose one hood carries the burden of millions of universes, cannot reach the ends of Lord’s glory with His thousands of hoods. From time immemorial Ananta deva is engaged in this service of narrating the Lord’s pastimes and He is yet to fathom its ends. The Lord’s pastimes are endless and infinite.Murari added that even Svayambhu does not understand the Lord in truth. So how could a mere mortal like Murari sufficiently glorify the Lord. In this way Murari expressed his helplessness.
Murari continued that even the Vedas, whose words are infallible and who are an accepted authority all over the material creation, do not know the Lord in actuality. Unlimited universes emanate and merge into the pores of His blissful body. It is only by the mercy of the Supreme Lord that one can know Him in truth.
Being satisfied with Murari the Lord sighed how the mayavadi sannyasis of kashi (Varanasi) describe Him as not having hands, face or mouth. In other words they describe Him as Nirakara (without any form). The lord roared loudly and explained that His form is completely transcendental and spiritual (sat, cit ,ananda) in nature. Even a mere touch of His body can spiritualize and purify anything. Then How dare these mayavadis claim that He has no form ? The Lord then revealed how He had cursed one of such bogus sannyasis with leprosy but yet that person did not come to his senses.
Lord Gaurahari then revealed how He had once rescued mother Earth (avani) incarnating as Varahadeva (boar incarnation) and how by the mercy of His mere touch she became pregnant. Mother earth subsequently gave birth to a powerful child named ‘Naraka’, unto whom Lord Varahadeva had imparted all good teachings and instructions. King Naraka initially protected the brahmanas and the devotees as per the shastric injunctions. However in due course of time, Naraka ,fell down owing to his bad association with king Vena, and started causing disturbances and acted cruelly against the devotees. The Lord could not tolerate harm upon His beloved devotees and thus He was forced to kill His own son.Lord Varahadeva then revealed that He cannot not tolerate any harm upon His devotees, even if it is caused by His own son. That is why Lord Varaha is known as the protector of His servants (sevaka rakshamaya) –
Sevakera droho muin sahite na paron
Putra yadi haya mor, tathapi sanharo
(Caitanya Bhagavata – Madhya Khanda , verse 44)
Lord Caitanya narrated this pastime to reiterate His promise ,that like His previous incarnations, He would annihilate the miscreants, in order to protect His devotees from any kinds of aggression.
Murari Gupta became overwhelmed and expressed tears of intense ecstasy. In this way Lord Gauranga revealed His identity to all of His beloved servants, one by one. The devotees became fearless and joined the Lord in Harinama sankirtana. At the end of this beautiful pastime, Lord Gauranga bestowed the ultimate blessings of pure love of God unto Murari (preme paripurna hao tumi). When requested , Lord Gauranga revealed Himself as Lord Ramachandra and bestowed darsana of Rama, Lakshmana, Sita unto Murari. Lord Gauranga also revealed that Murari was none other than the incarnation of Hanuman, and He Himself was none other than his beloved worshipable Ramachandra. In this way Lord Gauranga bestowed the priceless gift of love of God unto one and all. All glories unto Murari Gupta! All glories unto Lord Varahadeva ! All glories unto Ramachandra ! All glories, all glories unto Sacinandana Gaurahari !!!
